FAQ

General FAQs

My scale is not working, and I need to have it repaired. What should I do?

You have two options:

  1. Send the equipment to our main facility in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, where we have the necessary stock of components to repair your product. Repairs are completed within a maximum of 3 days. Please fill out our RMA form to process the return.
  2. Contact the nearest GRAM distributor. Contact us, and we will provide you with their contact details.
I want to purchase a GRAM scale directly. How can I do that?

GRAM Precision’s policy is to sell our products exclusively through distributors specializing in weighing solutions. These distributors can recommend the most suitable equipment for your needs. Contact us, and we will recommend a distributor where you can make your purchase.

I bought the equipment a while ago, and it has broken down. What warranty do I have?

Our products come with a 1-year commercial warranty from the date of delivery from our facilities. This warranty period is established for commercial reasons, as legislation does not mandate a minimum warranty period for goods sold between companies for integration into production processes. Therefore, this warranty is not governed by Law 23/2003 on Consumer Goods Guarantees, which states:

"Consumers or users are not considered those who, without being final recipients, acquire, store, use, or consume goods or services with the purpose of integrating them into production, transformation, commercialization, or provision to third parties."

I own a GRAM scale and need the instruction manual. How can I obtain it?

You can find the manuals for all current equipment in the Downloads section on our website. If your equipment is discontinued and no longer available, please contact us, and we will provide you with the corresponding manual.

My GRAM equipment no longer works with the battery and only functions when plugged in. Should I send it for repair?

Most likely, the internal battery has reached the end of its lifespan. These batteries typically last around two years. Please contact your GRAM distributor to purchase a replacement battery, which you can easily install yourself.

What is the difference between a scale and a balance?
  • Balance: In theory, a balance operates by equilibrium. Weights are placed on one side, and the object to be weighed on the other, unaffected by gravity.
  • Scale: A scale is a mechanical device influenced by gravity.

In practice, weighing devices with low capacity or hanging mechanisms are often referred to as "balances," while higher-capacity devices are called "scales." However, small weighing devices may also be referred to as scales.

What is the difference between a weight and mass?

  • Mass: This is a constant property of a physical object and remains the same regardless of location, unaffected by Earth’s gravity.
  • Weight: This is affected by gravity and varies depending on your location on Earth.
What does the “Tare” function mean?

The “Tare” function allows you to zero out the display after placing an object or container on the scale. This subtracts the weight of the container, enabling the scale to display only the weight of the objects added to the platform afterward.
